Who We Are

Boyd Sutfin. Boyd has over 16 years of experience guiding and a lifetime of experience hunting and fishing. Boyd’s passion for the outdoors is truly what grew this business and made it successful. Boyd has a drive like no other to provide the best possible outcome for his clients. Boyd is the main contact for the business.

Boyd and his crew are dedicated to the game. Hunt. Fish. Repeat. We found something we love. So we decided we won't quit doing it. (It is hard to NOT want to catch fresh Jumbo perch and relax with a fish fry at the end of the day).

Boyd

Owner

Boyd’s love of the outdoors began as a child when his dad would take him deer hunting and duck hunting. If you were ever looking for Boyd he was likely holding a gun or rod in a remote spot and consistently pushing himself to become a better outdoorsman. It did not take long and Boyd had begun to get bored hunting for himself. It was after a goose hunt with friends that he was asked “why don’t you do this for a living, your good at it”. After initially thinking no, it continued to be on Boyd’s mind, and it was not long after that he began his Outfitting career as a waterfowl guide.

Jacob

Jacob’s entrance to the guide service and passion started with his love for dogs. Jacob owns and operates Tails for Life, a company that trains service dogs. Along with his wife, Amanda, Jacob has trained service dogs for over 14 years and has become board certified. About 7 years ago Jacob developed another passion

Clay was born and raised outside of Waupun, Wisconsin where he spent most of his childhood carrying a gun or fishing pole exploring his family’s property. Jon’s introduction to hunting started when his grandpa took him deer hunting around the age of 12. The first waterfowl hunt he was on was many years ago with his friend Boyd. After his first hunt with Boyd, he was hooked into waterfowl hunting and has worked with Boyd since the start of Royal Rock Outfitters.

Rob McGahan was raised by a family of traditional outdoorsman, gaining an impressive hunting and fishing skill set at an early age. Born and raised in Hesperia, he has resided in the Upper Peninsula for the last 22 years.

Will was born and raised in Horicon, Wisconsin and ever since he was 5 years old he loved watching the waterfowl passing over his house. From childhood on Will was never one to be inside so it was not long before his life led him to a career outdoors. At about 9 years old he was introduced to Royal Rock through Boyd’s wife’s

Sal Montalbano, a Seasoned fisherman born and raised on Lake St. Clair near Detroit. Growing up Sal's grandfather would take him on memorable fishing trips to the peir, his father would take Sal and his brothers fishing every Sunday as it was a family tradition passed down over generations along with Cherished salmon fishing trips in the summer on lake Michigan on the family's charter boat.

Hunting Dog

Baker is a hard charging female with a strong desire to find game, her work ethic is par to none. She runs a blind as hard as she runs a mark. She is extremely biddable with the desired off switch we all look for. She aims to please, no matter the task.

Bexlee

Hunting Dog

Bexlee has a strong nose and an inate ability to find game that seems to be unrecoverable. She gives 100% effort no matter the task big or small and extremely driven.

Britt

Hunting Dog

Britt is a gentle soul with a big heart. She is very biddable and thrives on affection. She has a wonderful off switch in the house and also has a great work ethic. Britt is our versatile hunting dog, she hunts waterfowl as well as upland birds.
